Volunteer With Us

Serving is a profound expression of our faith, echoing James 2:17’s wisdom: “Faith without works is dead.”

Through service, we embody love, fortify church bonds, and exemplify Christian values. Whether your passion lies in aiding the impoverished, evangelism, music, or other talents, our volunteer team welcomes you. As a volunteer, you’ll forge deeper connections, offer meaningful service, and radiate positivity. All ages, backgrounds, and experiences find a place here to contribute. Join our volunteer team and make a difference.

Jesus Cares is a volunteer interdenominational Christian Charitable organisation. Our volunteers and supporters come from a range of backgrounds across the whole body of Christ with a common heart to bring the love of God to the poor, the homeless, the needy and the vulnerable.

Volunteers connect with Jesus Cares because they are given the opportunity to use their ministry gifts. We provide training for our volunteers and meet socially at other times. The fellowship we share is special. We have volunteers who have been with us for many years and also attract a constant stream of new ones.

We operate in three areas: the Inner City, Western Sydney (Lalor Park area) and South Western Sydney.

VOLUNTEER STORY: Lilai & Jamain

What Inspired You to Volunteer with Us?
Lilia: Jesus, Mark 25:34-36… and the pandemic inspired me. A cry of my heart was, what would the homeless do during the pandemic? Who will help them? … I knew I needed to help. Jesus had been calling me earlier, and hearing of Jesus Cares, what they did, their commitment even through the pandemic and weather forecasts, going out even on a rainy day, really spoke volumes to me, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this ministry. I wanted to care for the homeless and assist in providing for their needs. My journey began April 4/2020 and it continues.

Jamain: I was inspired to serve at Jesus Cares when my now wife introduced it to me, though I was young in the Faith and was a little apprehensive about it, Lilia then spoke a scripture to me from Matthew 25:34-36 NKJV “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’“ Then I was inspired to serve to do the Lord’s will.

What is Your favourite memory/story from Volunteering?
My favourite memory was when I first had the opportunity to lead a man to the Lord, I prayed and he repeated after me right next to the Jesus Cares van at Belmore Park, it was such a Holy Spirit lead moment and I was jumping out of my shoes afterwords. He also walked with Lilia and I to Central station making sure we got on the right train home. Glory to Jesus.

How Can Others Make a Meaningful Impact by Joining Us?
My wife Lilia and I believe the biggest impact anyone can make joining Jesus Cares, is by furthering the gospel and bringing the kingdom of God to the people ”So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.“  Romans 10:17 NKJV. It is such an honour to serve and be involved. We give thanks to God for leading us to this wonderful ministry.  God bless you all.

VOLUNTEER STORY: Joshua & Grace and Abi

What Inspired You to Volunteer with Us?
Growing up as a Christian I knew that I should by living out what Jesus taught but often I chose my own ways and his ways was just an “option”. After going through low points in my life in 2020, I made the wholehearted decision to live for Jesus and do life his way. Part of that was in serving others, like Jesus taught and showed us by his example. So I immediately connected by serving at My Church and also volunteering at Jesus Cares which my late cousin also served at, in order to do it to the least of these my brethren, you did it for me (Matthew 25:34-40).

What is Your favourite memory/story from Volunteering?
I don't have any specific stories but I am so blessed by the relationships with those in need and having regular fellowship and encouragement from the JC team. Often I am tired after the week, but after serving the needy and being encouraged by the others serving alongside me, I am energised to continue to do it and see Jesus' love change me and others! I can’t begin to tell you of how Good God is and what he’s done and been changing in my life since I went all in for Jesus.

How Can Others Make a Meaningful Impact by Joining Us?
It all starts from our Relationship with Jesus! We can't make an impact unless it's With Jesus' love inside us and his Spirit leading us. As we read his word, pray and apply His Word to our life, Jesus' love fills us and changes us so we can and want to Serve others. Everyone will know that you are my disciples by your Love for one another! (John 13:34-35)

VOLUNTEER STORY: KL & Ash, Erick and Eden

We are from India, and we have two boys, Erick and Eden. Both, Erick and Eden come out with the Jesus Cares van a few times, and they really enjoyed it.

We joined Jesus Cares Ministry to reach out to the community with the Gospel, and also to do service to the poor as commanded in the Bible: ‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me’. Matthew 25:35. We have a passion for evangelising and telling the Gospel to as many people as possible.

We joined more than three years ago, and we have been serving there regularly since then. We attend the outreaches to the poor at Ward Park and Belmore Park on Fridays, and then the Gospel outreach in Blacktown.

We felt urged to visit Blacktown and pray for the people in that area much before Jesus Cares Blacktown outreach started. We used to go to Westpoint mall or sit at a park near the Blacktown station and asked the Lord to open a way for us to reach that community with the Gospel. And we are now excited and thankful to Jesus Cares, who supported us in fulfilling this desire to take the Gospel to this ethnically diverse community.
